I Was Sacked Because I Was Too Pretty

A 24-year-old female television worker, Emma Hulse, has claimed she was sacked from her job because she was ‘too good looking’.
MirrorUK reports that Miss Hulse who was hired as a freelance runner, claims production firm UNIT TV, located in Soho, told her to go home during a shift because ‘she should be on a catwalk’.
She was however sent a message by her agent barely five minutes after starting work telling her she was ‘no longer required’.
In her words, she said:
“I was quite disappointed to be sent home. I didn’t really know what to do. Maybe that company employs plain looking people and maybe if you don’t look that way they don’t take you, maybe I was a distraction.”

University Of Ibadan Shut Over Students Protest Authorities of the University of Ibadan (UI) have closed down the school, following students’ protest. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Idowu Olayinka, said the closure was as a result of protest by students and to prevent a breakdown of law and order. Undergraduates were ordered to vacate campus latest by 6pmyesterday. The institution had fixed the first semester examination for June, but it will now begin on July 17.The vice chancellor said postgraduate students can continue with their lectures. The protesters blocked the Mokola-UI-Ojoo Highway, causing a gridlock. This followed students’ resolutions at a congress last weekend that the management be given two days to constitute a students’ welfare board and set up a fact-finding committee to look into the issue of hot-plates in halls of residence. N-Power pre selection process now out.

N-Power, ​the ​Federal Government empowerment scheme, on Monday explained how applicants can check their pre-selection status. N-Power had last Thursday confirmed date to announce candidates selected for physical verification. Meanwhile, the presidency has confirmed that a total of 176,160 graduate beneficiaries had been deployed under the N-Power. This is contained in a book titled: ‘Making Steady, Sustainable Progress for Nigeria’s Peace and Prosperity: A Mid-Term Report Card on the Buhari Administration’ co-authored by the Presidential Media Team. The book stated that N-Power programme, has reached 200,000 graduate beneficiaries from all 36 states including the FCT. It noted that out of the 25,840 selected applicants left, 11,884 beneficiaries were disqualified after physical verification or had incomplete records, adding that the remaining 13,956 beneficiaries were absent from physical verification.
